Is forcing regime change in a sovereign nation illegal by international law?

Bush has stated on numerous occasions that regime change is one of the reasons for going to war in Iraq. How do his actions in Iraq compare with your thesis? Is forcing regime change in a sovereign nation illegal by international law?Yes, except when us Americans do it because, under The Shrub (or The Devil), we do not recognize international laws with which we disagree.
Is forcing regime change in a sovereign nation illegal by international law?
Sure for Non Bush countrys.

Go Team Bush Go
Is forcing regime change in a sovereign nation illegal by international law?
Absolutely, that is why they call them %26quot;sovereign nations%26quot;. The legal stuff is a little fuzzy though.
International Law. Now there's an oxymoron.
That will be one of the charges brought against him at the war crimes trial in 2009.
It's kind of like the Prime Directive in Star Trek.

It's wrong, but often broken with proper justification.
We are the U.S.A. We will do as we please. We are a superior nation. Don't you listen to the propaganda? We make the rules.
Who enforces international law? No one. International law only applies to the winner in a time of war, and the law is what they decide. There are no police to arrest anyone in this circumstance.
Please educate yourself. Regime change in Iraq was the idea of President Bill Clinton, aka Slick Willy.

Clinton took the easy way out (as usual), leaving the dirty work to the next President.

No it is not illegal...international law is weak enough that there is no such thing as an illegal act outside of imperialistic take over and genocide...even then it is pretty hard to nail down an act as illegal...Ronald Reagan was once charged with breaking international law for aiding a revolution in South America...He crumpled the notice into a little ball and threw it away...how can international law really exist if enforcement is non-existent. It is because of this that I believe Bush broke no real law in changing the regime in Iraq. I do believe it is morally wrong and short sighted, just not illegal. Then again, just because no one is there to catch you J-Walking, does not mean you didn't break a law.
what would you think of a foreign power coming in to affect a %26quot;regime change%26quot; in america? i strongly believe that we need a regime change in this country, however i would strongly protest this sort of action by a foreign power. wouldn't you? how is that different in iraq?
Yes, it is and Bush is a WAR CRIMINAL.
You mean like Kosovo?

Serbia?
Depends on the circumstances. The answer for Iraq is no, it was not illegal. Not at all.

Regime change was US policy towards Iraq since 1998.

Also, read the Iraq War resolution passed by both houses of Congress in October 2002 for an outline.

We forced regime changes on Germany and Japan also, illustrating that your basic question cannot be answered with an unqualified yes.
