Do you believe in the principles under which our nation was founded upon? Or have times changed?

Do you believe in the principles under which our great nation was founded upon? Or like so many other liberals out there do you believe that the Founding Fathers lived during a time when slavery was legal, women weren't allowed to vote, that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed, and that times have changed?Do you believe in the principles under which our nation was founded upon? Or have times changed? While, I agree, the founding fathers lived during a time much different than ours (Slavery and women issues), I do believe in the founding principles of the founders.

The Constitution, even though written more than 200 years ago, is a wonderful and very straight forward document. The Constitution was and is a limit on government, not the people. If you believe that it is fundamentally flawed, then you believe that the government should have more influence and control over everyday life.

The constitution never said slavery was legal. It also never said women could not vote. As times changed, amendments were passed to reinforce the rights of man (woman).

Remember, even the constitution says that our rights can not bbe enumerated. Our rights are many, since they are not given to us by man or government, but have them because we exist (or for the more religious, we get them from God). Man can only limit the rights that we do have.

To answer your question more directly...

The principles of freedom and liberty that this country was founded upon are still valid today. The greed of power by politicians is what is no longer needed.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. THOMAS JEFFERSON

Well I firmly believe in it. You start throwing our basic constitutional rights out the window and people will revolt.

I think truth, non violence and straight forwardness are totally out-dated

Three M s only dominate one is money muscle power and madhu that is arrack.
Sounds like we should bring back old times to me!
no our nation was founded as a Christian nation we nee to get back to that and we need to protect Israel thats one of the reasons gods blessed this country so much
Yes I do!!!!....and it just nauseates me what is being done to wipe them out by the %26quot;lovely%26quot; new administration. It's truly disgusting and scary.....that's why he's fast-tracking everything (and bankrupting the country in the process!!!)
Yes, I do. It's for this reason that I abandoned the Republican party years ago and became a Libertarian. The Libertarian principles more closely match our forefathers' intentions for our nation.
Boy, talk about your loaded questions...

I don't believe the Constitution is flawed. I am however, horrified at the liberties our government has been granting itself. I'm horrified that the nation has been in a perpetual state of war for the last 19 years, and no one seems to care. The Unitary Executive that has been taking shape needs to be put to death, and fast.

The oath I took as a United States Marine is conflicting. I swore to %26quot;...support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...%26quot; I also swore to %26quot;...obey the orders of the President of the United States...%26quot;. But what happens when the President attacks the Constitution?
I find it amazing what with the new round of secular bashings against our founding, how it came to be that under the very system they deplore how all these rights were given and eventual societal wrongs corrected? Gee its almost as if the founders had laid out a blueprint for govt and liberty that would eventually govern society the best way forward.
I don't think our founding fathers would approve of spying on the people as Dubya deemed appropriate. I am all for freedom from religion and do not enjoy having other people try and shove their beliefs down my throat as the evangelicals enjoy doing. Our founding fathers had an innate distrust of religion and Ben Franklin in particular disliked it. The Constitution has been amended many times so our leaders have themselves found it not to be perfect.
