Atheist: Changing Pledge of Allegiance necessary?

I'm a Catholic and I respect others opinions. Is it right to change the pledge? Our nation was founded in hopes of freedom to practice religion amongst other things. It's part of our history, do we have a right to change it? Do you think we should? Why? Especially since a large portion of citizens do believe in a god. Compared to an estimated 15% atheist, still a quite large group of people.Atheist: Changing Pledge of Allegiance necessary?The pledge of allegiance is for patriots. No one is required to say any or all of it. If you don't like our country you are free to leave unlike what it used to be in Communist East Germany where machine guns were placed at the border to prevent escape. The pledge is only ceremonial. People holding government offices and members of the armed forces take an oath. That is required. Quit crying over things you aren't required to do. We have freedom of speech here. I can pledge allegiance if I want. Be thankful you can too.

You're way off.

Atheist: Changing Pledge of Allegiance necessary?
of course we should change it, it was inserted by the religious right when they had the power, whats to say in 100 years muslims arent the majority in America and they decide to put under allah in there

thats why the only solution is to leave religion out of it
Atheists don't believe in the freedom of religion. The atheist god, Dawkins, had decreed all other religions to be diseases.

Atheists such as Lenin, Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot murdered over 250 million people in the past 100 years to try to rid the world of religions other than atheism.

Atheists believe the only valid religion is atheism and many want to kill all non-atheists.

Because atheists claim religions other than atheism are responsible for all of the world's problems, they think all references to religion, including the pledge of allegience, should be banned.
I think the pledge should be eliminated entirely. I'm a libertarian and as such I don't believe in government whatsoever, %26quot;under God%26quot; or not. Yet at school my kids are told to pledge allegiance to this immoral organization regardless.
Don't worry about it, a few months ago it was ruled to stay in and cry babies can't keep suing about it either. It stays no matter whose taint gets twisted over it.

%26quot;boo hooooooo I don't want people to say God%26quot; To f*cking bad sad cases of the US! God stays!
I love the pledge as it was written!!

So no, changing it wasn't necessary.

Written in 1892:

%26quot;I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.%26quot;

Changed in 1923:

%26quot;I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.%26quot;

Changed again in 1954:

%26quot;I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.%26quot;
The constitution has nothing to do with majority opinion.
Just because the phrase %26quot;Under God%26quot; is used in the pledge does not mean it is referring to a specific god. It is referring to the deity the individual believes in.

Besides the phrase %26quot;under Science%26quot; just doesn't have that ring to it,

and our currency would have to have the phrase %26quot;In Science we trust%26quot; Because if one thing is changed the other will have to be changed as well.
