President Barack Obama plans to expand the membership of the National Security Council and increase its authority to set strategy on a wide range of domestic and international issues



He said sections of the government not traditionally part of the council would be brought in on a case-by-case basis -- he named the Energy Department, Commerce Department and Treasury, and all the law enforcement agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration.



%26quot;New NSC directorates will deal with such department-spanning 21st-century issues as cyber security, energy, climate change, nation-building and infrastructure,%26quot; the Post said.



I can understand law enforcement agencies but energy and commerce departments?



I really don't like that he wants to increase their authority.



What do you make of it?Expansion of National Security Council-who else wonders what this will lead to?It depends...like you I am weary of his motives because I am concerned that he will take an oversized government already and try to supersize it.



This is why we need an informed citizenry to keep the power of the government in check free from tyranny. (John Adams) Jefferson believed in the power of average citizens- (republic of farmers) who take an active role in the government. I also think the founders placed safe guards called the Balance of Power plus the Bill of Rights to keep the government accountability to the citizens.



Unless we use the knowledge and understanding we were given; then, we the government becomes tyrannical.

It's just another salary being paid to people whose title is so ambiguous, that you'll never truly be able to claim they're being paid too much.
Like almost all liberals, he is a dictator who wants to control everything and everyone. These plans are just more tools to move us closer to a fascist dictatorship.
