Ok. For my Junior year, I am taking AP american literature analysis. Over the summer, I must pick a book that is at least 300 pages in length, and it must be a nation-changing book, such as Grapes of Wrath or Uncle Tom's Cabin. Does anyone know of any other good books (and a short description) that I could read. I need to do a ten page essay on it, so it can be a hard or very deep book. Thank you very much!AP English Summer reading project...Need a good book.?You could look into All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren.
Or,
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.
Or,
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
Or,
Native Son by Richard Wright
Or,
The U.S.A. Trilogy by John Dos Passos
Or,
Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis
Or,
Portnoy's Complaint by Philip Roth
Or,
The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe
Or,
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Or,
On The Road by Jack Kerouac
OK, I guess I have to stop sometime, so it might as well be now. Good luck, and have fun with your essay.
P.S. I tried to give you the wiki links but yahoo wouldn't let me. That's why there's no summary included here. Wiki does have articles on each of these titles though, so you can go there to see if they interest you.
AP English Summer reading project...Need a good book.?
How about Harper Lee's 'To Kill a Mockingbird'? Looks at racial inequalities in the American justice system.
AP English Summer reading project...Need a good book.?
there's always To Kill A Mockingbird. but I suggest Sylvia Plath's %26quot;The Bell Jar%26quot;. It's not 300 pages. But it's a very, very good book. And an international best-seller.
It's told in the first person narrative from the main character, Esther. She's very smart, attractive and everything good in a girl, but she's also very depressed. The book is typically her account dealing with her own break down.
I've read it numerous times and each time I get pulled into the story.
Read Emma by Jane Austen. It is funny and clever and a classic. I actually began to enjoy Jane Austen because of that book. I don't care about Pride and Prejudice. Emma is so awesome!
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Great book to impress your future AP English Lit teacher as well as something you might actually enjoy reading.
The version I own is 752 pages but if you're looking for a book that you can discuss in a 10 page essay, this one if perfect.
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand would be a lovely choice. It's mainly about the ideal human being who surpasses the laws and expectations of society to maintain his sense of self. Very interesting story.
Here's a link that may give you a little more background on the book:

'Old' America is fading. Who will look to the future?
It seems that many Americans are trying to hold onto the past by voting for people like McCain or Clinton. You can clearly see by zero action on illegal immigration and other nation-changing events happening in the US today that trying to keep America as we imagined it to be in the past is not going to happen. People like McCain and Clinton have had great power over the years and have failed to stop some unwanted changes from happening. So basically America is moving on; you can call it a brand new world, a more diverse world. At this time America should not try to hold on like the Serbs are doing with Kosovo. The truth is the truth. We live in a new world and we need a new leader for that world. A leader who is not caught in the past. A leader for the future.
As they say %26quot;The old look to the past because they have no future, the young look to the future because they have no past%26quot;
We need a leader who looks forward. Who is that person?'Old' America is fading. Who will look to the future?America should try to hold on. The change happening is a capitalist change. The current trends will finish dividing the classes and %26quot;the people%26quot; will mean something totally different. Diversity has nothing to do with it, all the changes are driven by money. A new leader will not fix such a failed government.
'Old' America is fading. Who will look to the future?
Obama ,all day
'Old' America is fading. Who will look to the future?
Barack Obama!
Ive had 20 years of the same oild same old. The clintons and bush's of america have to go.
I'd take my chances with the waitress at the coffee shop before voting for more of the same abuse.

Whoever the next president will be - she or he will have some massive problems facing them. America has become less a family-based, frugal and productive society with small government. America has more become a consumptive, permissive, debt-dependent and government-dependent society that ever before.
America鈥檚 younger generation faces extremely significant challenges and may be less prepared to meet the apparent future than any prior generation in history. America may experience a crisis of economic un-sustainability.
But - will citizens fight back from the grass-roots to retake her proud heritage of the past. Will the leaders we choose come forth that do not scream: growth-growth-debt-debt? There is so much to be done, because there is so very much at stake.
Clinton or Obama will need lot of fortitude for the job.
Clinton will start with the changes now. And by the polls and statistics, she is the person with strong leadership qualities.
America wants a man though. (That's not based on my personal opinion though - that's statistical information as well.)

You can take your diversity and stick it where the sun don't shine. I'll hang on to my culture, thank you very much. You progressives can go to hell.
It certainly would not be the person that has a racist agenda, and who associates with thugs like Rezko. America is and always will be America; it is the leadership in Bush that has caused these problems we now face. Every country faces problems - that is a given. But a virtual unknown like NoBama could actually create more problems than solving them - and create an America with a middle-eastern feel. No Thanks - NoBama ! Although I am not a republican - I will vote for McCain if NoBama wins the nomination.
The young look to the past, but aren't aware of it.

Not the communist Obama.
I like both McCain and Clinton, but only because they are the best of the 3. People said Bush vs Kerry was picking the better of two evils, both Bush and Kerry are way better than any of the 3 left so far for 2008.
Those of the past have substance. Obama thus far has shown none yet.
Clinton's health care plan does not exclude anyone, Obama's health care plan does exclude 15million people....so that's something to think about. And clearly, change is here: Clinton is a woman and represents change just as much as Obama who is black...those who will vote for McCain got the money to afford themselves everything, and they do not care about the rest. It's easy to say we don't need change when you have the money to pay for all your needs--It'll be a different story if those upper middle class people have to go through a crunch because we continue at this war instead of building a solid economy--because if we don't do that, then the upper middle class will start shrinking a lot more than it did already....
Well it depends on the leaders %26quot;American Values%26quot;. If you look towards the Dem's..............our country WILL NOT be the free country we all love. The people who look towards our %26quot;Old America%26quot; are saying just that, and nothing more. Our country is becoming a big and bigger NANNY STATE. It is heading in the WRONG DIRECTION. Please read Liberal Fascism, then perhaps you will actually understand what we will be loosing in this great country of ours.
The past is history that will repeat itself we never learn from it !!!
You're right. The old ways no longer work. Can we have a president who has actually experienced life from our perspective please?

Troll SummerSlam predictions?
As the king of trolls, i will give you 2008's summerslam if wwe was run by my people.
BTW: I took all of these predictions from actual troll users here in WS but I don't want to name them (could be embarassing ya know!)
Matt Hardy will pin Mark Henry with a Military Press from the top rope (I am dead serious that somebody posted this...)
The Great Khali will beat Triple H (lol, i hate the thought of this so much that i am leaving it at that. Star this question if you think this decision calls for a riot...)
Edge will defeat the Undertaker when taker forfeits the match to edge (This made me wonder how old this person was...)
John Cena defeats Batista with 10 COUNT THEM 10 DIFFERENT MOVES!!! (This one made me laugh but i have to admit john cena should improve his repitoire of moves!)
Mickie James and Santino Marella defeat Beth Phoenix and Kofi Kingston (This match isn't even scheduled....)
JBL defeats CM Punk via Crossface (WHAT JBL using a submission!?)
and my favorite....
MVP defeats Jeff Hardy when Matt Hardy destroys his brother (I would never see this coming and sounds like something that would never happen.)
Rate the SummerSlam of Trolls on a 1-10 scale
WQ: Who will win the mark henry/matt hardy match?
Oh, and be sure to star this question if you would riot with Great Khali beating Triple H and say if you wish to join my Troll Nation.

Will Canada change as a nation when the Head of State becomes a "King" again?
I think there is something sweet about having a Queen as the figurehead instead of a King.
Maybe it's because I'm a male, but I find Queen Elizabeth II very likable. For ceremonial purposes, I think it feels good and charitable when Canadians create the best country they can possibly be and then put the Queen at the head of it.
And the Queen has a beautiful dwelling and the Queen looks after people who are often grieving, attends many funerals, does things in this day and age that I think are performed with more of a woman's touch.
I think having some guy up there, %26quot;A King%26quot;, changes that tone significantly, unless the King is a very gentle selfless emotionally sensitive male. Like if the figurehead were some CFL Quarterback, it just wouldn't be the same, wouldn't you agree? Will Canada change as a nation when the Head of State becomes a %26quot;King%26quot; again?I think the only difference it would make to the average Canadian (Monarchists notwithstanding) is that we'd see a different face on our money. Beyond that, I don't think anybody would notice or even care.
Will Canada change as a nation when the Head of State becomes a %26quot;King%26quot; again?
Hmmm no I don't think it will have any affect of Canada's perception of the monarchy, because we have a GG that is the Commander-in-Chief and the de facto Head of State. The Queen has been Queen for so long we just have a special place for her, but thats what happens with all new monarchs
Will Canada change as a nation when the Head of State becomes a %26quot;King%26quot; again?
No. There will be no difference. If anything, there will be further separation. Canadians didn't put the Queen at the head of the country - Canada's association with the monarchy began with Queen Victoria, who was the ruling monarch when Canada was founded as a colony. Since then, there have been a number of kings and, after George V died, his daughter, Elizabeth, became Queen. So Canada didn't 'put' her anywhere. She inherited her role in Canada's constitutional monarchy.
When Elizabeth dies, Charles will become king. When Charles dies, William will become king. So you're going to have a long, long wait until the possibility of another queen rolls around.
Only if they make some very drastic changes to the role of the Monarchy itself. I think the Brits would riot in the streets if that were to happen. So, I don't see any changes in the near future when 'William' becomes king. The Queen will be around for at least another 10 years and by then Charles will be too old. The crown will go directly to William.
When QE 2 is finished in her role hopefully Canada will, like Australia, begin the overdue process of finally becoming a REPUBLIC .

Do you need a temporary visa if your plane lands in a different nation?
I am an Indian citizen in U.S. on F-1 student visa. I am flying back to India, but the flight will stop at France. Will I need a temporary visa for France, though I will not be leaving the airport, but only changing planes? Are toothpastes, shampoos not allowed anymore for international flights?
Can anyone please clarify if there is anything else I need to be aware of other than ticket, passport and immigration documents?
Thanks a lot.Do you need a temporary visa if your plane lands in a different nation? You don't need a visa if you don't leave the airport- cosmetic liquids are allowed but must be under 3 ounces each and in a separate clear ziplock bag.
Make sure you are there to check in at least two hours before your flight or you could get booted.
Have a nice trip!

Are recessions good for keeping up the quality of Service and Products for a nation?
If you are afraid of losing your job, don't you think you'll do it better? If you afraid the oil will run out won't you be motivated to think up new industries to support our ever growing need for energy and a greener living program? Recession and High gas prices will motivate people to do their jobs better, save money, and find new ways to achive the goals needed to survive in an ever changing world environment. That's my story and I'm sticken to it. This has been another broadcasting of C.J.C. anytime.
Are recessions good for keeping up the quality of Service and Products for a nation? Not really.

How do you expect us to win a war when we are divide on the issue?
we are falling like the rome empire, we no longer stand togather, we are becoming lazy and soft, not to mention we as a nation are being changed by foreigners who are coming here and changing things. How do you expect us to win a war when we are divide on the issue?Perhaps the best thing for us would have been to have a President that didn't start a war with a country that had %26quot;nothing%26quot; to do with 9-11. Bush is a divider , not a uniter. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't be in a position of %26quot;needing%26quot; to win this war.
How do you expect us to win a war when we are divide on the issue?
I think you're right, So why doesn't George Bush listen to the 70% of the people who want us out?
or do we act like a schoolyard gang and follow the leader who starts the trouble?
How do you expect us to win a war when we are divide on the issue?
Did you seriously think everyone in our country agreed on all the previous wars we won?
that is the liberal plan, they hate America and are the enemy from within, they are the greatest threat this nation has ever seen.
I don't think we should be an %26quot;empire%26quot; in the first place.
What right do we have to run the whole world?
Wow... where to I even begin?
First, we're divided on this issue because we're divided on every issue. The technical term for that is %26quot;democracy.%26quot; The %26quot;nation divided%26quot; argument is a concoction of the liberal media... the reality is that every war this country has been a part of has been debated from both sides. I'm pretty sure there were a good number of folks that thought succession from England was a bad idea.
Second, Americans work, on average, more hours per week per person than any other industialized country, with possible exception of Japan. If that's not good enough for you, look at the suicide rate in Japan some time. Then ask France about their mandatory 35-hour max. work week, and how it's working wonders for their economy. I think I've said enough about this.
I do agree we're becoming soft, though. If Al-Qaida pulled the kind of crap on China or North Korea that they pulled on us on 9/11, the entire middle eastern region would be a radioactive parking lot right now.
If by %26quot;soft%26quot; you mean Americans are fat, I agree with that too. We need to stop putting our entire lives into our careers and eating fast food on-the-fly, and start taking health, family, and other important areas more seriously. It's an impending crisis. I'm not sure that's what you were getting at though.
I don't get the Roman Empire thing. I gotta reach way back to my college history classes, but I can't think of a time when the Roman Empire truly %26quot;stood together.%26quot; Most of the time parts of the empire were at war with each other, I think.
How do you expect us to win a war when we are divide on the issue?

Can someone please summarize this in one to two paragraphs?
In March 2000, the United Nations released a report stating that the birthrate in the United Kingdom, Japan, and most of the countries in the European Union had fallen below replacement level (generally set at 2.0 to 2.4 children per woman.) According to the U.N. report, these %26quot;low-fertility countries%26quot; run the risk of labor shortages, inadequate pension support, and an overall decline in the native-born population. The report concluded that affected nations will most likely need to consider measures like increasing the influx of immigrant workers, increasing the retirement age, and reconsidering the types of benefits they provide for the elderly. (1)
Great Britain's birthrate now stands at about 1.72 children per woman. (2) The failing birthrate has raised widely articulated fears in the British media about labor shortages and a lack of support for state pension plans, as well as less overtly articulated concerns about the position of the native-born white majority in the coming years. Without a rise in the native-born birthrate, according to the United Nations, Britain will only be able to maintain its population size by raising the number of migrants it admits. (3)
This has led to discussions on what it will mean to be %26quot;British%26quot; in the coming years as the racial and cultural landscape of the nation changes, as well as interesting debates about the responsibilities of white, native-born women to reproduce an %26quot;authentic%26quot; British collective, as they are presumed to have done in generations past. Why, the press is asking, are women choosing not to have babies anymore, and what sorts of measures might be taken to change this?
The question I explore in my research is how nations perceive that their interests are being served or not served when their citizens enact fertility in certain ways. Women and their reproductive labor are generally given a central role in nationalist projects, and their decisions about their fertility and the work they perform within the home are integrally tied to the economic, military, and moral strength of the collective. Women both physically reproduce the collective and transmit national culture and values through their roles as mothers and educators.%26quot; On a symbolic level, women also act as boundary markers for national groups through restrictions imposed on their sexual relations and often function as signifiers of national identity. This reproductive women's work of nation building becomes particularly prominent in nationalist discourses in times of social upheaval and transition. (4) The case of the British %26quot;Baby bust%26quot; presents an opportunity to analyze pro-natalist discourses, particularly messages aimed at women and men to increase their childbearing, and their intersection with anxiety about Britain's changing cultural and ethnic makeup.
Methodology
My sample consists of articles from nine of the major London-based U.K. newspapers from the period between 1 January 2000 (two months before the release of the UN population report) and 1 May 2002. Pulling all articles that include significant mention or discussion of the UK's declining birthrate has given me a sub-sample of 199 articles (to get a better sense of the immigration debate as it occurs without reference to the declining birthrate, I have read and analyzed an additional 128 articles that solely cover debates related to immigration). Of those 199 articles in the birthrate sample 58 (or 29 percent) take the stance that increases in immigration are a positive or inevitable solution to the drop in the white native-born population, while 13 (7 percent) argue that increased immigration is either unnecessary or would be detrimental. One hundred and nine articles (55 percent) talk about the falling birth rate without mentioning immigration at all, and a final 19 (or 10 percent) mention both but send a neutral or ambiguous message about immigration.
Content analysis: Pronatalism
Of the anti-immigration subset of the articles dealing with the birthrate, more than half (7 of 13, or about 54 percent) contain an expressly pronatalist message aimed at British readers. One can further assume that these are native-born readers, and, in at least a few cases, the message is aimed not so subtly at white native-born readers. For example, a Times piece which ran on 22 June 2000 argues that %26quot;Mass immigration as a demographic and economic solution is a simple minded, short term evasion, not a solution. It ignores demographic realities and would transform rapidly, in unwelcome ways, the receiving countries into radically different kinds of society.%26quot; The real solution, the article goes on to explain, is to make the %26quot;workplace, the tax and welfare system, and gender relations as a whole more favourable to women, so they can fulfil ambitions to have more than one child.%26quot; %26quot;Look after women,%26quot; the writer concludes %26quot;and the population will look after itself.%26quot; Another article, in the 26 October 2001 edition of the Independent notCan someone please summarize this in one to two paragraphs?Do it yourself.

Is this your experience of pentecostal/charismatic churches?
Have you noticed how the pastors are always psychologically inflating you to do all these grandiose things %26quot;for God?%26quot;.
Every man and his dog is encouraged to %26quot;preach to tens of thousands%26quot;, or %26quot; preach to nations%26quot; or %26quot;lead thousands to God%26quot; or %26quot;change this city/town/area for God%26quot; or %26quot;save nations%26quot; and every other type of bloody superhero activity.
Personally, I got sick to death of their rhetoric, and we all had to be these superheroes and change nations, the world, our town, our place of work etc. What I really hated is that these idiots had no regard whatsover for the person who was simply a good husband/wife, a good parent, a good employee etc. Oh no, God has all these extravagant plans, and each one of you are going to change.............well, you know.
Bloody idiots. Personally, I think that when you enter a pentecostal/charismatic church, you should be given a uniform once you become an official member, symbolic of your calling.
I suggest a mask, cape and tights. Is this your experience of pentecostal/charismatic churches?yes and it is especially ridiculous when they start screaming and jumping up and down. Personally I am not convinced of anything by somebody who can't talk in a normal tone of voice.
Is this your experience of pentecostal/charismatic churches?
oh god, not tights. Fat bald old preachers in tights would be more than I could stand.
Is this your experience of pentecostal/charismatic churches?
ROFL!!!
Please, oh please, do not suggest that for a uniform. Somebody may take you seriously and do it. :-))))
I had a similar reaction to yours. However, it's important to remember that some people actually do come closer to God through these %26quot;revivals.%26quot; To each his own, I guess.
Dead on.
When I was a member of a similar denomination, I was constantly looking for my way to be a warrior and my special purpose in life. It was excruciating, because I always felt like I was letting God down.
They are very deceptive and collect broken people who are truly seeking Gods will, they then use them till they have nothing left and leave the church. It is a shame.
nobody is called to be just a good husband or wife. if your son or daughter was dying and you had the ability to save them would you just say %26quot;nope I do not have to save you because I'm a good husband and that is all I need to do%26quot; ? the unsaved ARE those people and they are going to die if you just sit there !!! the bible does tell us that if we had the chance to tell them about God but we choose not to the WE will be held responsible. now stop being ashamed of Jesus and the fact that you are a christian and tell others about heaven and salvation
Thank you so much for stereotyping us all and calling me an idiot because I attend a pentecostal church. I've got a challenge for you. Go and attend every single pentecostal church in existance, and then come back and make whatever statement you may have. Surely since you're oh so intelligent, you wouldn't go saying that pentecostals are a bunch of idiots without knowing them all first.

Why do Americans think the United States is the most important nation in the world?
No man is an island.
Sure, it鈥檚 still the world's superpower, but that is changing rapidly.
-the dollar is declining
-OPEC is considering abandoning the dollar and pegging to the euro
-America is losing international respect and prestige by the minute
-the U.S. military is preoccupied
AND
-America is now in a recessionWhy do Americans think the United States is the most important nation in the world? You are right. and the use of the term, %26quot;by the minute%26quot; is also right, but most Americans don't know that yet. I trade stocks for a living, and so I clearly see what you are saying. Bush has ruined us, along with every American who buys anything with a credit card and doesn't pay it off each month. We only have ourselves to blame. China is the next power, and fortunately, they don't give a damn about Muslims, Jews, Christians, but they do care about taking care of Chinese. So, we'd better focus on that.
Sorry I didn't get in line and just say that America is best because we are the best. It is true that we have a lot of things going for us, but if anyone would read history, they would see that America is not really any different than any other world power this earth has seen before. And expensive foreign wars destroy empires!
Why do Americans think the United States is the most important nation in the world?
Thanks for the vote! I like to get best answer especially when I get 6 thumbs down ratings.
Why do Americans think the United States is the most important nation in the world?
Because we are the most important. If you don't think so, please leave.
The entire world depends on our economy and military. Do you think it is a coincidence that when our stocks go down, the stocks around the world go down?
All of the items you mention are temporary. I really don't give a damn if other countries don't like us. They are just jealous.
Poor libs.
It is.
%26quot;America is losing international respect and prestige by the minute%26quot;
wait a minute I thought everyone hated America already?
Because we are. Don't know what country you are from but if America shut you out completely you would be back in The Stone Age.
Technologically huh? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, wonder where they are getting all that material that their brilliant scientists are using to make those wonderful inventions? or the food and clothes? Wake up! Without US everyone loses.
America will always be the greatest nation under GOD.
Don't you think your country is the best? If not, why not?
if something affects America,it affects the world.
You don't put down your spouse because they aren't perfect--or at least, you shouldn't. Sure, America has faults, and it always has... but is that any reason for Americans to longer be proud of their own country, and grateful for the good things that it does provide? The problems we're facing are still far less dire than the problems most other countries in the world face.
The one thing that will save America is Christianity, more Christians than any other country in the world..
If your country is ready to play policeman in the world and spend trillions of dollars defending the rights of people abroad and is ready to lose thousands of lives if a rogue country decides to attack another (I am not defending the war in Iraq here) then go right ahead!
Why do you ask a question about America and not Europe? There's your answer
It's funny because though America is large, it's population is by international standards quite small for a superpower.
It keeps being influential because of its work ethic and good education systems, along with a business friendly environment.
It will remain powerful for a long time to come.
America has been in recessions that have come and gone
The dollar is declining because the Fed is pumping more currency into the system to help the mortgage problems
Depending in what country you go to is the U.S losing prestige....remember the U.S. is responsible for free societies across the globe
Iraq is a problem, but any big military problem would come from that part of the world, so they are not as bogged down as you think
America has plenty allies, most the richest and freest in the World.....
I kind of like our team
^^^^^^^^^^^^Japan lives under U.S protection......
It's still the best country on earth... the most prosperous, and the most free. It is the most innovative in drug tech, aerospace, and automotive mechanics, as well as many other technologies. People are breaking in to the country to enjoy the American dream. I think it amazing that countries like Canada and Mexico depend on us for protection, yet they have higher taxes and less opportunities... they just don't compare.
So, there are over 250 countries on earth, just pick yourself a better one and and quit complaining.
EDIT: A we built Japan, and without our forces there, they'd be speaking Chinese.
Stick OPEC! In a few years we won't need them any more anyway. USA all the way!
glad your not speaking german? thank the usa for that one
We own the world, the rest of you rent.
We have been conditioned as a children to say and believe it or you were classified as Un-American or Un-Patriotic. Back then as a child, I really felt we were the best on a lot of issues, but the last few years I think we have taken a dramatic dive. If we don't wake up soon, as deal with truths instead of one liners that are patriotic and give you that feel good feeling, as continue to say we are the best at certain things, or the economy is great, it will be too late.
Dah,because this is our home! With all thats going on it is still the best place to live.Look around at the other countries.
america is everything but free, we are barcodes to the corporate dominators and the wto
Yes, all these problems are happening, but none are so serious that we can not recover. If we closed our markets to the worlds goods, we would survive, no one else would. Our military is still the one that keeps the world safe, we are still the one that they turn too when there is danger or problems. We may go into a recession, but the rest of the world will suffer worse then we will. Once we resolve Iraq, one way or the other, and we are not dumping a billion dollars a day down that drain, what do you think will happen to our economy then? The United States is the greatest nation, and will be for the forseeable future.
Because we live here jack***. If you dont think your home is the most important thing to you then you really need to live elsewhere. Its people like you who are affecting this country in a very bad way. Take pride in your home man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because Liberty is the right for all man and you need some one to protect the week in this world.
How many time did we pull Europes butt out of the fire? and many more. A thank you once and a while would be nice.
I don't necessarily think it is the greatest country in the world. I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Personally, I could care less about losing international respect and prestige especially considering the amount of help that the US gives to foreign countries.
I would rather be military preoccupied than not prepared at all and have our great country blown up before our very eyes.
and finally, losing our superpower, please...
PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!

%26quot;.....it changed into a nation building mission, and that's where the mission went wrong. The mission was changed. And as a result, our nation paid a price. And so I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation building.%26quot;

Talks out of both sides of his mouth, huh? Has he no shame. Lets all bad mouth him and vote in Hillary. ( God help us all)
The question is why did you people trust in the first place.
Some of you people voted for this man, which I find very irresponsible.
Ahem... Flip. Flop.
He got elected twice by a majority of Americans, that's how.
There is Oil in them there countries, that what that idiot is all about. He is not from Texas he was born in Maine.
Good question but you are only going to get an honest answer from the same old people.
Anybody who might(and ought to) learn something new will just ignore the question and the answers.
Karl Rogue (oops,I mean Rove) decided that TX Governor W.Bush was exactly the sort of Joe Six Pack Born Again type who the Religious Right and the Common- Man would vote for against what they billed as the 篓elitist篓 Gore( first) and Kerry (second).
Once Rogue and the neoconservative ideologues who now dominate the Republican Party got their man into the White House (and ,contrary to Bush, who thinks God did it, they knew they needed the votes of the majority to get him in there),they proceeded to re-educate him. He was kind of dragging his feet a bit at first but 9/11 woke him up and from then on it was a breeze. They fed him the rhetoric and he spewed it out to the public.
Now he has embarked us on a mission to save the world from itself and it matters not a hoot how many U.S. soldiers die in the process. We are supposed to bring democracy to every despotic, hostile country that neither desires it or deserves it. These jokers decide which nation should benefit from our attentions.
Neoconservatives believe in BIG spending: on wars and furthering Israel's interests in the region. They believe in messianic missions for our country. G.W. believed God wanted him in the White House. The two connected...the rest is history.
-uuuh,maybe,Karl Rogue(oops,I mean Rove)is really the Angel Gabriel in disguise and Bush is right after all. That could be another explnation.-
Uum well having thousands of people killed on American soil by terrorist could have something to do with it don't you think?
Humm i suspect your a liberal right? Figures. So your trying to tell me we would still be in Iraq even if 9/11 never happened? Bull.
Why would you lie on this forum?
Nation building would suggest that our presence in Iraq is permanent.
Yeah, Hillary's sitting still for that.
We still win, you still lose.
Works for us.
We voters, Dems, Mods, Cons, Reps, had no decent choise in 2000, nor in 2004 !!!
AND as long as the extremists continue to dominate the ONCE GREAT DEMOCRAT Party, this trend will continue, selecting the LEAST of the 'Evils' !!
Hey Kelley B... I recall that debate in 2000. He also said that if our troops were put in harms way he would make sure we'd have a EXIT STRATEGY!!! How about that?....Remember the witty sound bite... FUZZY MATH ? Who's guilty of that? Certainly not Al Gore.
Oh, is that what he is doing in Iraq? LOL
As near as I can figure, 6 1/2 years ago, we had a lot of very stupid voters in this country. It's amazing how many of them have really smartened up, isn't it???
But of course 9/11 didn't affect us or change anything at all.
He wants to build a nation for him and his friends to retire in, before they are prosecuted for war crimes!need girl advice crossbow use for hunting

How to Restart The Nation, To Create a New Revolution?
For awhile now I have noticed how downhill the United States has been going. its time for another revolution. Thomas Jefferson said that we need a new revolution every 20 years. and we are way overdue.
so i think we could change the entire world if we just fixed gas prices at $1. imagine. it would change everything. I'm not going to go into details how it would because if you think about it and everything it's connected to then you will understand. what would you think would be a good way to change this falling nation?

Do you need a temporary visa if your plane lands in a different nation?
I am an Indian citizen in U.S. on F-1 student visa. I am flying back to India, but the flight will stop at France. Will I need a temporary visa for France, though I will not be leaving the airport, but only changing planes? Are toothpastes, shampoos not allowed anymore for international flights?
Can anyone please clarify if there is anything else I need to be aware of other than ticket, passport and immigration documents?
Thanks a lot.Do you need a temporary visa if your plane lands in a different nation?Don't worrie, no Visa is needed. Unless you pass through passport check, which in your case you wouldn't be allowed that means you haven't really entered the country, so your fine!
You can take tooth paste and shampoos, althoguh pack your shampoo in your luggage which is to be checked in, also try take a small tooth paste on the plane as they don't like anything over 150ml.
Nothing else will be needed, enjoy your trip!!
Do you need a temporary visa if your plane lands in a different nation?
No you do not need a visa, you are fine. Since you are only staying in the airport, you are technically not entering France as far as visa restrictions are concerned.
You will be fine as long as you stay in the airport and have your ticket to India in hand.
As far as toothpastes, shampoos and other liquids--the rule is that they have to be in a clear quart sized bag, and all of the bottles must be 3oz or less. If they are more than 3oz you'll have to put them inside of your checked bag.

Why does CHINA still restrict personal FREEDOMS and not become a free nation?
Why is China still basically caught in its past? Why do they still not have the person freedoms that so many nations do? The Olympic coverage kept talking about why this was such a big event for China, but why? What is it about their past that has kept them from changing into a country, similar to the rest of the world?
Any help is greatly appreciated, but please leave a source! Thanks! Why does CHINA still restrict personal FREEDOMS and not become a free nation?Don't just quote mainstream media propaganda.
Which freedom are you referring to?
To join the drama(election) directed by big corps?
What exactly you can do while a Chinese can't?
Why does CHINA still restrict personal FREEDOMS and not become a free nation?
Freedom is a relative term. What is freedom to one country could be repression in another. In Denmark they are much freer than the United States when it comes to selling drugs. In China there is no age restriction to drinking alcohol... When the United States wrote up it's constitution slavery still existed, women could not vote, yet all men are created equal existed in it's constitution. The US has progressed over the decades. China has actually also progressed, yet each nation progress at there own pace. To force beliefs from one society onto another is wrong... Star Trek had a %26quot;non-interferance directive%26quot; to let other worlds develop naturally. Yet in our world the US thinks of nothing of interfering with the policies of another.
Why does CHINA still restrict personal FREEDOMS and not become a free nation?
Look up the word Communist. Study each and every country that has been conquered by them (none have had a free election to become Communist) and you will begin to understand. But seek out some individual that has escaped a Communist country and listen to him or her. They will give you a very different view of Communisms then your college professor!
The Chinese government to put it bluntly, the government is bending to the pressure of capitalism but it still has control over information. Giving personal freedoms means giving up their authority which they don't want. They control information thus they control history and what the chinese know about their government. A revolution isn't going to happen when the majority of Chinese people don't even know
Tiananmen Square happened.
Indeed it DOES restrict freedoms, but what we often fail to realise is that the US, the UK and many other nations do this too, of course not the the same extent. There is really no such thing as a 'free' country. This is a western myth and is one of our greatest naivet茅s. Look at the laws of your own nation - or even state - and you'll see ridiculous restrictions on our personal freedom. I've lived in Australia, the UK and Ireland and have travelled to dozens more, and all have problems with 'freedom'.
There is no 'similar to the rest of the world' as you suggest. There are countless different ways a nation relates (and reacts) to it's own people.
China, although it has MANY problems with human rights, is changing faster than any other nation on the planet. They've come a long way - and of course still NEED to come further - but we should be applauding their efforts in this time of monumental change - while at the same time, constantly encouraging them to do better.
Sources?: Read the Guardian and Independent newspapers (on-line if you're not in the UK) read Monocle magazine, read Utne Reader, read the Economist, the New Statesman, basically... read, read and read more and use your innate intelligence to filter out the rubbish.
The only valid opinion is an INFORMED opinion! :-)
It is slowly getting phased out by the Chinese government. The reason they do not do it all in one day is since they are a communist nation, people can slack off and still get their fair share of everything else other people work for. So if you were to suddenly say %26quot;birdie be free%26quot;, they would have slackers who would not do anything and they would essentially be put into a depression like ours in the '30s, becuase there would be starving people who do not make any money.
have you heard of COMMUNISM?
And, why are WE caught up in our past? We don't want to forget, so we don't make the same mistakes. Communism is still the present for them, if it was the past, There would be no communist Cuba or North Korea.
For a country with a billion people in it, I'd say they're doing very well. Do you really think that a democracy of a billion people would function?
Have you been to China? I'd say you should travel there before you unleash your judgement.
thanks to the government, americans believe the only freedom is the freedom of free expression. nothing else counts.
look up the term %26quot;freedom%26quot;, and do some research about modern China.
Same question i could ask about America.
Why does our president talk about freedom ....then use the CIA as if it were the KGB and claim we are unpatriotic if we don;t submit to the forces of government even though we have commited no crime?

What are some of the costs of democracy/freedom in a nation?
It is said that freedom is not free. What do you see as the price, the cost of freedom? How is this cost changing with time? What are some of the costs of democracy/freedom in a nation? The cost of freedom in a democracy (or a representative democracy) is said to be the responsibility to stay informed and to vote. But just as a doctor needs “informed” consent before he operates, the voting population also needs to be informed. This requires that the population is educated to a level where they are able to understand the issues and what we refer to as an independent media to inform them. All of these things require dollar costs and are perhaps failing in one form or another with the expected consequences. It has been said that a democracy is perhaps the worst form of government except for all the other forms of government.
But democracy is not the only form of government and with other forms any freedom that can be obtained will also have costs that are related to that form of government. However there is one thing that might be said about any form of government. Any freedom available under that form of government will require the national equivalent of discipline.
For an individual freedom comes at the cost of discipline. If in my writing I am constantly exercising my freedom to throw failed edits on scraps of paper over my head, assuming an unlimited supply of paper, my room will eventually get filled and thereby limit my physical freedom. I exercise the discipline to take aim for the garbage pail and occasionally take out the garbage, not because I want to but because it is necessary for my continued freedom. Similarly, when I am hungry I will get in my car and must necessarily avoid the potential “coercion” of state sanctions by stopping at several stop signs on my way to the market. I also realize that pedal to the metal full speed ahead might get me into an accident with a similarly minded fellow. Therefore I accept the state’s potential “coercion” for the benefit of the freedom that it leaves me for the same reason that I accept the necessity to take out the garbage.
The national equivalent on the national level of discipline for the individual are the laws and treaties, recognition of the courts, etc that we live under. There is a constant balance that must take place between freedom and the laws that provide for it. When that balance gets too far out of askew, freedom will necessarily suffer. Similarly if education fails or the media fails in their needed function the consequences may take many generations and dollars to repair.

What are some of the costs of democracy/freedom in a nation?
The price of freedom is to exert the energy necessary to attain and keep it. To build upon this, I will define freedom as the ability to act as one sees fit. In so acting, there are two potential restrictions: nature and the actions of others.
We will never be entirely free from the requirements of nature. There must always be some amount of energy spent keeping ourselves alive. People tritely say that no one is free who is hungry. That is perhaps true. The range of actions available to such a person is severely limited. Yet there are no magic bullets to providing for the hungry. What's more, contrived claims to require others to provide food (or any other good) violate the freedom between acting humans.
Humans are free from one another when their dealings are mutually voluntary. In the course of human relations, we frequently violate each others' freedom. These range from trivial cases of misunderstanding to intentional crimes to political oppression. Freedom from the actions of others is tricky because often cunning individuals act in such a way as to benefit from enslaving others. If they are truly skilled, they may convince their victims that their actions are actually intended to protect them or to provide security.
They also entice slavery by appealing to various noble inclinations in their victims. It is injust, they say, to allow any person to go hungry. So we will take from you to give to any person who needs food. The multitudes who acquiesce to such arguments ignore the grand potential to provide for the needs of humanity by voluntary arrangement. They also ignore the tendency of people who promote such institutions of theft to enrich themselves at the expense of both their victims and the intended beneficiaries.
The price of freedom among humans is to have the courage to resist oppression whatever its nature or source. It may involve taking unpopular stands. It may even require defending oneself violently.
I've only addressed the price of freedom. It is tragic that democracy and freedom are often interchanged. Nothing could be further from the truth. If freedom among humans is to deal by mutual, voluntary consent, then democracy is the antithesis to freedom. Its very nature is to subject the will of some people according to the voice of others. As any government, its mode of enforcement is violence. The price of freedom therefore must be to oppose democracy in favor of voluntary institutions [1].
Over time, the ideals of freedom are becoming less and less clear. In order to restore a greater level of freedom, there are many popular fallacies to overcome. People will defend institutions of enslavement and proclaim that they are defending freedom. The price of rolling back such thinking is great. However, it need not be violent or involve upheavals. It may only require patience. I am optimistic that with greater connectivity, reasoned arguments may eventually chip away at the superstitions that restrict freedom.

Are you fed up with the American Government?
There are a lot of people out there who want change and I don't mean from republican to democrat, that didn't work. It's time for real change in this nation. We need to speak up and speak out. It's time for us as citizens to tell those in charge that they had thier chance and that it's time to try something new. Whatever your political beliefs are, take a stand, write a letter, email or call your reps. VOTE!!! One voice alone will die out, but together we can force change.
What are ways you or I can affect change in our government?
What are some organizations you belong to or kow about that stand for change? Are you fed up with the American Government?I agree 100%. Unfortunately, change will only come with a revolution. You can push people only so far before they begin to rebel in mass.
Are you fed up with the American Government?
The american government has its flaws, but I think people are waking up to the reality that they have been had for the last six years.
Last falls elections were a good sign - like you said, we really need a new direction, not just dem vs. rep - but unfortunately the way this system works, a third party would need a ridiculous outpouring of support both financially and through volunteering time in order to pull off a victory.
Are you fed up with the American Government?
Only MONEY affects our elected reps. Money elects them also.
The problem is some people are afriad of change, if you think that US right now is in trouble (I do), what MIGHT happen if there was a change? What kind of change do you mean? (I hope not from democracy to communist.....)
You talk about all this change and don't offer any suggestions. The only realistic way to create change is to run for office, or start a lobbying group to enact your changes. To pretend like you could reinvent the system to avoid the problems this one faces is ignorant.

I'm fed up with them... I don't even live there... i have relatives there that I haven't seen in years because refuse to go another country that treat all visitors like criminals... I have a great job and a home and a child (I have never commited a crime)... i would never give that up to go to live in the US but yet they have to treat you like a criminal or like you wanna stay in there country if you haven't got a million dollars in your bank account to prove that you will go back home... so I just wait for my family to come visit me. So instead when I want to go on vacation I just have to take me and my son to another country... other countries are beautiful even more than the US...
I'm fed up with the current adminstration. It would take alot more then this to affect change. Look at our history during the past 45 yrs or so and what happened to the ones who had the power to change things and tried, they lost their lives.
To answer your first question, yes I am fed up. The thing that makes me mad is that voting was meant to be our voice but it is not, because all the candidates are really just moderate and they lean just slightly to the left or right, there is no HUGE government changing differences.
That's exactly right. There are so many people that don't want things to change. They have unlimited credit on their platinum cards. The Mercedes is almost 3 years old and it's time for a new one. Their $400K house could use some work. A bigger pool. Maybe a guest house. The gas prices has no effect on them. They don't know what all the fuss is about. So what gas prices are up. It's about itme the oil companies raised them. I filled my wifes car up and it cost $35. Before this administration, I could have filled two cars for that. But everything is all right. Don't make a stink.
Liberalism is progressive isn't it? It took us to the moon. This country has been in a conservative mode for nearly (40) years, yet the liberal bashing continues. A third party would only prove that this country is in real crisis. Liberalism or Conservatism, the political mechanism is in place, it's up to us to seize the moment for CHANGE. Politics is one thing, but good policy is another. Corporate profits are way up, but investment is down, go figure. Change is coming whether you like or not.
Change does need to happen:
First of all, the government needs to be stripped from a lot of power because they are abusing it to the point where they are completely defensive to inquiries of their incompetence, or even their actions.
The government wastes money! The American government is probably the poorest money manager in the world. Remember before 9/11 the Department of Defense could not account for trillions of dollars? What about the almost 9 trillion dollars owed by the General Fund?
The government is too big, and is seeking ways to around the constitiution under the current administration. FBI abused the patriot act. The IRS abuses its power to the point where it will blatantly deny its victims of rights through intimidation. The government is guilty of prison abuse and torture. The government continues to use false intelligence to justify its actions.
Go ahead...keep it up...maybe one day Americans will be forced to defend themselves not through courtrooms but through violence!
hey alls read this they stop freedom of speech with H.R. 3302 wish stop them call statesmen in Capital Hill tell stop this now
to off the air wave like Michael Savage rash by call them Liberal Democrats are attempting to muzzle conservative talk radio: they are assaulting free speech. Like the communists in the former Soviet Union, America’s liberals seek to crush dissent by consolidating control over the media—especially talk radio, which has emerged as the dominant medium for conservative opinion.
Allies close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are promoting legislation, which if passed, will take off the air prominent conservative radio hosts such as Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly—along with thousands of smaller conservative broadcasters. The bill, entitled the %26quot;Media Ownership Reform Act,%26quot; is sponsored by Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a leftist Democrat from New York. The legislation aims to revive the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” of the 1940’s: “all views” are to be given equal time on radio. In particular, the Federal Communications Commission would have the power to oversee and change radio and television content. The goal is to tilt the ideological balance of power away from the right on the nation’s air waves.
The real force behind the effort to censor conservative talk radio is the progressive–philanthropist, George Soros. The radical leftist billionaire has made no secret of his hatred for conservatives. He says President Bush has transformed America into a militaristic, “fascist” empire. Moreover, Soros champions many of liberalism’s chic causes: abortion on demand, legalization of drugs, homosexual marriage, euthanasia, unlimited Third World immigration, open borders, and one-world government anchored in the United Nations. He advocates all the issues that are anathema to popular radio talk-show hosts like Savage, Limbaugh and Hannity. Hence, he wants these commentators to be exiled to the political wilderness.
At a recent National Conference for Media Reform, sponsored by Free Press, a Massachusetts-based group heavily subsidized by Soros, Hinchey laid bare his plan to silence conservative voices on television and radio. The anti-war McGovernite attacked Savage, Limbaugh and other conservative radio hosts, saying they were “responsible” for leading the U.S. into the Iraq war, as well as for preparing the ground for future military invasions of Iran and Syria. According to Hinchey, these men pose a “threat” to American national security. Hence, under his bill, they would be fired.
%26quot;All of that stuff will end,%26quot; Hinchey said.
In the Senate, the legislation is being supported by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. A self-styled “social democrat,” Sanders is forming a media caucus with the explicit goal of ending conservative hegemony on talk radio.
%26quot;Now is the time to begin asking that if networks provide their listeners with 99 percent of talk shows being with right-wing extremists, whether that really is what public trust is about,%26quot; Sanders said in an address in January. %26quot;Now is the time to open the question of the Fairness Doctrine again.%26quot;
However, this begs the question of why do radio networks have most of their shows hosted by conservatives? The answer is a simple one: They’re popular with listeners. Talk radio is overwhelmingly right-leaning because it satisfies the public’s growing appetite for alternative news and commentary to the liberal media establishment. If the Democrats don’t like the opinions of Savage, Limbaugh or Hannity, then all they need to do is go to CNN, MSNBC, NPR, The New York Times or The Washington Post. There are countless outlets peddling the anti-war, anti-Bush mantras of the left.
The liberal media and political class have tried to marginalize conservative talk radio for years—first by ignoring it, then by demonizing it, and finally by attempting to compete with it. Air America, with hosts such as Al Franken, was supposed to be the great liberal alternative to conservative talk radio. But, in spite of all the puff stories in The Times, The Post and CNN, Air America failed dismally to attract a large audience. When Hinchey, Sanders, Soros and their liberal Democratic allies complain about the need to “give equal time” to left-leaning views on radio, they forget one important fact: The radio audience is not interested. Now, after the failure of Air America, the Democrats are attempting to implement the final solution to their conservative problem: censorship.
Eastern European conservatives have faced similar oppression for the last 15 years. From Georgia to Croatia, Serbia to Slovakia, Soros’ media empire has relentlessly sought to marginalize patriotic and conservative journalists. In many countries in the former communist bloc, there are hardly any conservative voices left in the mainstream media. In fact, the billionaire activist openly brags that the former Soviet empire has become “the Soros empire.” He is now bent on destroying his ideological enemies in the belly of the beast—America.
What Soros understands—like all ambitious leftists before him, such as Lenin, Trotsky, FDR—is that attaining cultural power is the necessary precondition to achieving political power. The brilliant Italian Leninist revolutionary, Antonio Gramsci, outlined this strategy in his theory of cultural hegemony. Gramsci argued that once the left captures the commanding organs of culture and the media, the “state will simply fall into our hands.” He understood that, by dominating culture and stifling all voices of opposition, the left would be free to manipulate and mold public opinion, thereby paving the way to permanent political dominance. This is why Soros and his Democratic allies are determined to smash talk radio, the main bastion of cultural/media resistance to the liberal regime.
The attempt to revive the “Fairness Doctrine” represents a direct assault on freedom of speech. It is a concession by liberals that they are losing the battle in the marketplace of ideas. Unable to compete with conservatives in the arena of rhetoric, facts and reasoned argument, Democrats are resorting to the Stalinist method of stifling all dissenting points of view. Unable to out-argue and out-debate Savage, Limbaugh and Hannity, liberals are hoping to silence them—once and for all.
More importantly, the war on talk radio reveals the totalitarian impulse at the heart of modern liberalism. Above all, liberalism is an ideology based on radical social engineering. Its ultimate goal is to transform America into a society characterized by economic collectivism, personal—and especially, sexual—liberation and multilateral globalism. To accomplish these goals, the left must fundamentally restructure the economy, the family unit, traditional bourgeois values, and even the nation itself.
This is why liberals ultimately rely on coercion to pass much of their agenda. They must raise taxes and propose new entitlement programs (like universal health care) to keep expanding the power of the state; they must push for homosexual marriage and abortion to keep undermining the nuclear family; they must expunge religion and the Ten Commandments from the public square to keep rolling back traditional morality; and they must insist on amnesty for illegal immigrants and subordinating foreign policy to the United Nations to keep subverting America’s national sovereignty and distinct cultural identity. Their favorite tools of coercion are usually judicial activism and bureaucratic decrees. Now, however, riding high after the November midterm elections, they are going for the jugular—the outright silencing of their ideological opponents.
Conservatives must form a united front to prevent this blatant power grab by the Soros Democrats. If not, the return of the “Fairness Doctrine” will not only be a great victory for the forces of censorship, but a watershed moment in the continuing march of liberalism against everything that is good, decent and virtuous in America

I'm fed up with the far lefts determination to send this country down the toilet.
First we must change to a new system of electing our Representatives. The current system is Corporate backed. You have to be rich, and richly backed. How can we expect a Rich Man,or Woman,to understand the needs of this mostly not rolling in the dough, majority. Our Representatives are the major problem with this Government. This change must come from a collective amount of people, demanding it.Adding to all of your above suggestions, pay attention to who is backing the candidates,Corporate backed candidates will probably keep more of the same, smoke screen,do nothing games going once elected.
Voting is the only way to affect change in our form of government. I would really like to see Fred Thompson run for president. Not because he is Republican like myself but because when he went into office he said he was there for two terms and then would leave. Guess what? After two terms he left office. money oil violence and everything bad.....bush sucks
How to affect a change in the government? Simple, become the government. That's the cool thing about this nation, it lets any US citizen the chance to get elected to office. [Well, okay except for the President, you have to have been born a US citizen.] All these people that criticize the elected officials. Don't Monday-morning-quarterback them. Instead, get out, get your name on the list and get elected and take their place. Don't talk about how you'd do this or that, blah blah blah. Show everyone how much better your ideas and governing techniques are.
It is tough to get elected, and no one wanting to do the right thing or work for the greater good will ever be elected again. Why not? Because big business does heavily influence the message people receive before elections. So, get rid of certain big business and then we'll see a change. Exxon/Mobil made profits in excess of $30 Billion [yeah that's billion with a %26quot;b%26quot;] last year. Profits, not just gross income. Everyone still goes out and buys their product, so everyone gives them money to fund the candidate of Exxon's choice, not the people's choice, every election. That is how the populace really votes. They do it year round every year, not just on election day.
And, the populace doesn't really care what organizations are out there or what they do. If the organization is funded enough, then they can get their message out and be known. Without the funding, the organization may as well not exist.
It's a fact, and fault, of society today, not the government. Everyone wants to look at the TV and blame the government when they should put some of the blame on the person they look at in the mirror. Do research on your own, don't just go by the infromation given out by the person with the better funding that could buy the better prime time commercial slot; funding you gave that person in the first place in a roundabout way.
i dont think anyone really cares. as long as they have their 50 inch tvs and big house. crazy. idk how to change. rallies? but ud prolly need to belong to an orgranizations. im still too young to belong to one.
Yes, I am fed up... The government today is nothing like our founding fathers had in mind when they fought for our independence, and when they wrote our Constitution.. The federal government has been granted too much power and they use that power in the most ridiculous ways. I would love to think we can make a difference, but I believe our insignificant tax-paying voices would be inaudible to the ears of corrupt, greedy politicians.
We are fed up with our elected officials because they no longer work for our best interest. They have been hijacked to work for the international bankers on GLOBALIZATION! And that is in Conflict With Our Best Interest because that leaves us with no representation!
Bush’s agenda (taking democracy to the rest of the world) was really the agenda of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) %26amp; IMF (International Monetary Fund) etc. To make a one world economy or government, aka GLOBALIZATION, it is easier for them to take us down than it is to raise the rest of the world up to our level. And they make more profit doing it this way.
Their (under the radar groups of) Economist have equations as wide as the paper they are written on. In my opinion this is their Robin Hood plan for taking our jobs and other things away from us and giving it to others.
They do not care about the environment, the people of our country or the other countries. The say they do, but that is just an excuse to get their foot in the door of other countries to get their natural resources, like oil, minerals, gold, silver, diamonds etc.
If they don’t get what they want, they create war to get it! Like the Iraq war, based on lies and deceit!
They want to break the unions, tear down programs of social services, and take our Bill of Rights away from us. Bush wants to flood the country with cheap foreign labor that is why we have soooooo many marching in our streets demanding that they have our rights. This will break the unions, not to mention that WE are paying the cost for their medical care, education, etc. I heard that it is the equivalent of a new Mustang convertible each year, for each illegal in this country.
It can really be sumed up in one word; GREED!
What You Can Do !
There are grassroots organizations starting up all over the country. One called A28.org (It got its name from April 28, 2007, a National Day of Protest) is for the IMPEACHMENT of this present administration.
We must seek out leaders that value truthfulness and integrity if we are to restore our democracy and country to its greatness. Our democracy is undermined when our leaders try to mislead and manipulate us with deceitful ways. We can only make good decisions when we have truthful and correct information to base decisions on.
The Declaration of Independence “…. Governments are instituted among Men, DERIVING THEIR JUST POWERS FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED…. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, IT IS THEIR RIGHT, IT IS THEIR DUTY, TO THROW OFF SUCH GOVERNMENT, and to provide new Guards for their future security…. let Facts be submitted to a candid world.”
Constitution of the United States: Article. II. Section. 4.
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
It is the DUTY of our Senators and Representatives in Congress, to throw off such Government as our Declaration of Independence instructs us to do.
Remind Them Of That!
It is OUR DUTY %26amp; THEIR DUTY to throw off such Government!
The world awaits the SHOCK and AWE of seeing Democracy in Action!
We need to take back our democracy and country and tell Congress:
WE NO LONGER CONSENT TO BE GOVERNED BY THIS
BUSH %26amp; CHENEY ADMINISTRATION THAT HAS COMMITTED
TREASON, HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS!
First off if voting mattered it would be illegal by now. The system is inherently corrupt, therefore attempting to change a corrupt system from within will FAIL. It is logically impossible to create an Ethical system within the confines of a unethical or corrupt system. The system we live in is called a bureaucracy. A bureaucracy is thought to be a synonym for organization, but it is not. A bureaucracy is the systematic elimination, destruction or avoidance for corrective feedback. Bureaucracies tend to invade institutions mostly because institutions are set up hierarchically this structure only increases the bureaucracy, thus removing more of the corrective feedback. Now at the top of this structure of hierarchal bureaucracies is the BORG. The BORG is an acronym that stands for Banks and Big Business Organized Religion and Government. The BORG is parasite that lives off the efforts of the host. We the people are the host. In order to live outside of the of the BORG Matrix we need to set up an new society based on Ethics and Creativity. That new society is called TITANIA. I recomend you visit www.titanians.org for more information. Download the podcasts and become a citizen of Titania!software Fish

Download the podcasts and become a citizen of Titania!

Good question thank you, maybe you could post it on your website or My-Space..too many people are now taking short cuts, and forget the true meaning...and the reason for the season........thank you
Are you talking about a new video game or something?..no offense intended to other religions, or beliefs..I am with you Gene I am not sure what the asker is wanting.
Are you annoyed with the X Factor getting XMAS number one?
I know we do not always agree, but thank you.

Could the health insurance overhaul be a smoke screen after all?
Could the huge focus on imposing government run health care actually be a smoke screen to distract us from what is even more serious, the impending signing of the United Nation Climate Change Treaty?
Do you think this is being done intentionally to keep us distracted from the REAL threat to our liberty???Could the health insurance overhaul be a smoke screen after all?%26quot;Could the health insurance overhaul be a smoke screen after all?%26quot;
IF it was only about reform, all they would have to do is fix whatever is align Medicare and Medicaid. I have yet to hear such a comment even come out of BO's mouth. And have you notice how little, if anything at all, that has come out of the insurance industry mouth over the whole issue?
As far as the United Nation Climate Change Treaty goes, that wouldn't surprise me at all. I almost wonder if this isn't the real reason as to why he was given the Nobel Peace Prize in hope to encourage him to sign it. But the day he does, our Constitution won't be worth the worth of the dirt under your feet. Yet, liberals wonder why we hate him so much. And he has the nerve to tell us that Jeremiah Wright's attitude didn't rub off on him or his pig with lipstick wife.
BO is proof how Hitler got into power!
Could the health insurance overhaul be a smoke screen after all?
Everything with Obama is all smoke and mirrors.
Could the health insurance overhaul be a smoke screen after all?
Health insurance and health care are two separate issues. I know a ton of illegals working in the construction industry without insurance who have great health care (and dental care). You don't need insurance to get health care. As far as a smoke screen? Nah. Having a majority party and president makes a smoke screen unnecessary.
Have you ever been to Washington D.C.? It's a beautiful city, the monuments, the reflecting pool, the cherry trees, all the historic buildings. San Francisco is probably the only other city that is so aesthetically pleasing. And the Smithsonian Institute is fantastic. Everybody should put that on their things to see before I die list.
However virtually everything done as business in that city is designed to separate us from our wealth and deprive us of our liberties.
For the life of me, I can't understand people who think you're nuts for talking about global governance. This has been in the works for a long time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqTwce_ZL鈥?/a>
The video is of Walter Cronkite winning an award from the World Federation for his work towards global governance and Hillary Clinton congratulating him.
George HW Bush signed UN Agenda 21, a treaty with the UN. Bill Clinton carried on with its plan with globalization, sustainable development, and since the G8, G20, the WTO, the WBO, WHO, World Court, World Bank. Granted, the UN only has as much power as its members give it but this treaty in Copenhagen in December calls for a board to be organized and powers given to it to enforce the new treaty. That means, if 2/3 of our senate ratifies it, it is binding and we can face sanctions or some other punishment if we do not comply with the mandates within the treaty. Much of it has to do with global climate change as well as using cap and trade to spread the wealth to countries living in poverty. Our wealth will be gone because another point of these treaties is to equalize all economies, environments, and societies among the 200 or so members of the UN. That would be no where but down for us.
Both are designed to relieve us of our right to self determination and individual liberty.
I wouldn't be surprised. Additionally, it makes it seem as if congress is doing something when they are just wasting media time.
Yes. Absolutely. This is right out of their book of tricks. Manufacture a crisis and while everyone is looking there, do something truly heinous behind closed doors. So much for %26quot;transparency%26quot; like Obama promised countless times. He is evil, his heart is evil, his mind is evil, his staff is evil and their works are evil. They are hellbent on the destruction of the U.S. and most especially our Constitution and freedom.
ALL of it is a smokescreen for each other thing they want to do! This administration is so full of double-talkers, it's amazing!
Smokescreens are what it's all about these days!
In fact a strong republic owe all to his citizens that to say any american must be protected again the worst diseases.
But you must keep control of health insurance and never leave politicians using it to buy votes or puting their hand in the jar up to the fist...
Be sure I know the subject.......especially what you must not allow.
It's scary to think so. Just found out about this idiocy today.
My congressmen %26amp; WH will hear of my disapproval.
I seriously doubt it you backwards-thinking person. Your name is %26quot;Change Sucks #2%26quot;, maybe you should go live in a cave, after all, it was change that brought us out of them.
We are veering away from a treaty. Not quite sure what you are referring to.
Oh, big surprise why you are so clueless.
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/article鈥?/a>
the only source that says that treaty is even real is christopher monckton, who was recently outed as having no actually scientific training and has worked for newspapers all his life. the reason for the health care push is to hopefully pull america's health care system from among the worst in the world.

Do you think Falasteen will ever get it's freedom??
It's a saying %26quot; that Allah does not change upon a nation until the nation changes it's self%26quot;. Many Falasteenis are quite happy and least bothered about them being under Israelis. The way they portray them selves are no where near a Muslim.( I'm not talking about the Christians) some times I can never figure out if the person is Falasteeni muslim unless they tell me.
And this Que goes for all us Muslims not just them.Do you think Falasteen will ever get it's freedom??Yes inshaallah, but we need to purify our Iman for that.

A question about what President Obama has been doing lately?
Aren't the stimulus packages supposed to help us? If so, then how come they involve spending tons of money that we don't have?
I also kind of wanted people's opinions about President Obama now that he's been in office for a while.
I kind of think that he's not as experienced. Obama had great dreams of change for this nation, but dreams are just thoughts if they don't have plans.A question about what President Obama has been doing lately? He is allowed to spend money we don't have (2Trillion in just 100 days, more then past two presidents stretching decade combined) because he is going to implement something that everyone in this country can do when they are so far into debt that they don't know what to do. And that is called filing for bankruptcy. Of course he is not going to come out and say it like that but that is exactly where we are heading. Other countries are already pulling their money out of the dollar as their reserve currency and urged others to do the same at the G20 event. With this influx of money into the system without any product to back it the Americans will see hyperinflation take hold when we think we have gotten out of this recession. The president will then wipe the debt clean and create a new currency (perhaps with Canada and Mexico like they did with the Euro) at which time each American will be paid something like 10 cents for every dollar they own in new currency and we will start fresh. But at the same time this could trigger massive wars and outrages across the globe considering we just ripped off the world and they want their money in the form of natural resources and goods back. But it will also create a balance in the global economy again for you would be wiping out the biggest lender (China) and the biggest debtor (USA) thus redistributing the global wealth.
Or maybe we will just try to maintain confidence in the dollar and pay our ways out of it over the next 100 years. Don't forget however that the government also owes approximately 50 TRILLION dollars to medicare and social security that it robbed from the babyboomers to pay for other projects. So you make up your mind on who is going to get screwed in the end.
A question about what President Obama has been doing lately?
You are smarter than most. He tells us not to use credit cards (which is correct) while charging a credit card called the US treasury to the max.
A question about what President Obama has been doing lately?
You're welcome to your opinion, but if your patience level is such that you expect problems that started developing with Ronald Reagan to be fixed in 100 days, then you can anticipate a lot of disappointment in your life.
sorry, but i see him as typical democrat. spend your way out of any problem, worry about taxing the nation to death later.
the answer is NOT to spend, and it NOT to raise taxes on all of us (yes, all of us, not just those %26quot;rich elite%26quot;).
but he wanted to be viewed as doing something, taking a proactive stance, so he passed the %26quot;spend our grandkids into debt act of 2009%26quot;.
my assessment of him so far? idealistic and naive, ambivalent on many issues, not with thought out plans or strategies, and the nation will ultimately suffer for it.
The changes he wants to implement does nothing to help America.

FACTS:
Without Congressional approval, the President now has the power to transfer whole populations to any part of the country, the power to suspend the Press and to force a national registration of all persons. The President, in essence, has dictatorial powers never provided to him under the Constitution. The President has the power to suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in a real or perceived emergency. Unlike Lincoln and Roosevelt, these powers are not derived from a wartime need, but from any crisis, domestic or foreign, hostile or economic. Roosevelt created extraordinary measures during the Great Depression, but any President faced with a similar, or lesser, economic crisis now has extraordinary powers to assume dictatorial status.

Why over the last 4 years have U.S. troops been on a nation-building mission in Iraq?
Was Bush against it before he was for it?
http://www.republicansforhumility.com/rh鈥?/a>
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/10/1鈥?/a>
%26quot;...it changed into a nation-building mission, and that's where the missionwent wrong. The mission was changed. And as a result, our nation paid a price. And so I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building.%26quot;
GW Bush--2nd Bush-Gore Presidential Debates
October 11, 2000.Why over the last 4 years have U.S. troops been on a nation-building mission in Iraq?I wouldn't exactly call what we've been doing for the last 4.5 years as %26quot;nation-building%26quot;. More like %26quot;terrorist breeding%26quot;.
Why over the last 4 years have U.S. troops been on a nation-building mission in Iraq?
Yes, Bush was against it until he decided it worked as a means to achieve his goals....
All politicians flip-flop -- some just admit it and claim to have valid reasons for their change of heart. Others deny they do it, and just look foolish.
Why over the last 4 years have U.S. troops been on a nation-building mission in Iraq?
We need a leader in the White House
you can't build a nation with guns
We are there deffending the peace... we also take the RESPONSIBILITY (a word libs hate) to help rebuild a nation that has just been through extremely difficult circumstances... should the plan have been to just go in... take out the dictator and terrorists... and then leave the country in shambles and ruins? Perhaps that is the liberal point of view... but conservatives have compassion for others and see fit to help them rebuild.... yes companies will make money doing it... (most companies do make money... they also employ people)
BTW... I thought it was big bad companies like Haliburton who were doing the building... not our troops...why does my computer run so slowly store properties
