Regime change, nation building, army training, infrastructure reconstruction...?

...Aren%26#039;tcha glad we%26#039;re gearing up for a whole lot of spending in Afghanistan? The plan that Obama supports for Afghanistan is the exact same one we%26#039;re using in Iraq!!

Viva la change!!!!|||Most of Obama%26#039;s supporters did not listen to the man. They were to busy making him %26#039;The One%26#039; who was going to save them. Who was going to make their lives better and bring down the Rich, wicked, people who were oppressing them.

If it wasn%26#039;t so pathetic and if it wasn%26#039;t going to bring harm to America I would be gloating. But, I can only pray that he will not be able to implement all of his socialistic programs and that he will rise to the occasion and do what is right for the country.

George Bush made mistakes and is still getting bashed for it. Obama will make mistakes and you can be sure the Republicans will bash him.

But the color of his skin will keep them from being too harsh or they will be called raciest. The new/old dirty word.|||I don%26#039;t know what change his supporters were wanting, but this was not what I wanted. I didn%26#039;t vote for him anyway, but I thought that getting out of Iraq would bring the troops home %26amp; not just place them in some other place fighting a different war..

When he started picking his people and most of them were the old Clinton gang, I knew that it was just 4 years of the same as the Clintons. Very sad, but his supporters will be very disappointed..|||Once responsibility is thrust on him, Obama found Bush%26#039;s policies the best available....his base will be furious, but it seems he%26#039;ll be just another Clinton ( who stated a demand for regime change in Iraq ).|||Well, Obama has always put Afghanistan on a different track than Iraq. So, if people didn%26#039;t do their homework and learn this before believing something different and then blame him for lack of %26#039;change%26#039; is just faulty reasoning.|||There%26#039;s a difference. The difference is that something had to be done about what was going on in Afghanistan. It had become a safe haven for terrorists who could strike anywhere in the world and strike significant blows against nation states. It got so screwed up in the first place because the Soviets pulled out and left a power vacuum behind instead of a stable government. Installing a government that can be held responsible for what happens in its territory is in everybody%26#039;s interest. That%26#039;s why we had such a wide international consensus and support in that war from the beginning.

That wasn%26#039;t the case in Iraq in 2003 and isn%26#039;t now.

Afghanistan is still a major trouble spot that needs attention. We need to finish the job of squashing the Taliban and al Qaeda and their allies there so that the government there can get their situation under control. We can never exterminate every one of them. What we need to do is weaken them so much that they can%26#039;t be regarded as more than a minor threat that can be dealt with by the police in Afghanistan and Pakistan.|||I%26#039;m so tired of it. Bush%26#039;s policies in Iraq have been a failure. We need to get on with the debt problems in our own country. Since Iraq is now a haven for terrorists I suggest we get the hell out at the earliest convenience or face being there for 100 years in an endless religious war.|||no thank you

can i opt out?

when we have muslims who work for the government saying that it is acceptable for british soldiers to die in iraq i resent spending another penny on another muslim country .......ever

i%26#039;m sorry but enough is enough ......these people hate the west but always have their begging bowls out whether in their own third world countries or in mine

afghanistan is never going to be anything but a money pit .......and definitely not worth the life of one brit or american ......

and as for a change ........a start would be an end to writing blank cheques ....that would get my vote
